Hosted at the Glass House Community Centre, the event brought together community members, volunteers, partners, and local leaders in a shared effort to reduce digital exclusion and strengthen access to opportunity across Tower Hamlets.

Building Digital Confidence and Community Inclusion

The Digital Confidence Programme is designed to support women in developing practical digital skills, including using online services safely, improving employability prospects, and increasing confidence in navigating an increasingly digital world.

Participants at the enrolment event were introduced to the programme, completed registrations, and connected with support staff and volunteers who will guide them throughout their learning journey.

Community engagement activities throughout the day highlighted the growing importance of digital literacy, particularly for vulnerable women, migrants, asylum seekers, and local residents who may face barriers to access.

Strong Partnership Support

Tower Hamlets Council played a key role in supporting the initiative, alongside contributions from community leaders, volunteers, and media representatives.

Wish Foundation extended its appreciation to all partners and participants who contributed to the success of the event, including:

  • Mustak Ahmed, Speaker & Councillor
  • Kevin McCullough
  • Shamsia Begum

Their participation underscored the importance of collaborative action in addressing digital inequality and strengthening community resilience.

Leadership Statement

Speaking after the event, Nasima Islam, Founder and Chair of Wish Foundation, said:

“Digital confidence is no longer a luxury—it is an essential life skill. We are proud to see 87 women take the first step towards improving their digital knowledge and confidence. Together, we are creating opportunities, reducing digital exclusion and building a stronger, more connected community.”

Ongoing Commitment to Digital Inclusion

Following the success of the enrolment event, Wish Foundation will continue delivering weekly Digital Confidence sessions at the Glass House Community Centre. The programme will provide practical, hands-on support to help participants build confidence, improve access to online services, and enhance opportunities for education and employment.

The Digital Hub remains open to vulnerable women, migrants, asylum seekers, and local residents, offering free support aimed at bridging the digital divide and promoting long-term inclusion.

About Wish Foundation
