The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) has raised over £13 million so far for the appeal which launched last week (01/07/26).

Londoners will have seen the appeal advertised all over the city, including at the iconic BT tower, as well as at tube stations across London.

The total includes a donation from His Majesty the King, who is a long-term supporter of the DEC. Over time, The King has shown a keen interest in the humanitarian work of DEC member charities.

£2 million was also matched by the UK Government through its UK Aid Match scheme, announced by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer at PMQs, as well as contributions of £250,000 from the Scottish Government and £50,000 from the Welsh Government.

Funds raised will be used by DEC charities and their local partners, who have been working in Venezuela for many years, to provide medicines, distribute food packages and ensure people have access to clean drinking water and adequate shelter to protect from the heat and rain.

  • Plan International is providing essential relief items, providing psychosocial support, and strengthening protection support for children and adolescents.
  • Red Cross teams are on the ground supporting with search and rescue efforts. They have also deployed ambulances to support emergency medical response efforts and are preparing shelter facilities to support people whose homes were damaged.
  • World Vision is distributing hygiene kits and food baskets along with establishing Child-Friendly Spaces. They are prioritising psychosocial support and emotional recovery for the affected population.
  • Islamic Relief are distributing food parcels and essential aid to people in Caracas.
  • Save the Children is providing emergency supplies for families impacted by the earthquakes. They are also working urgently with teams and partners to assess needs.

Saleh Saeed, DEC Chief Executive, said:

“People in Venezuela are facing a devastating crisis after these catastrophic earthquakes, and the needs are urgent and growing by the hour.

“Once again, the British public has shown extraordinary generosity—we are incredibly grateful. Thank you. But far more help is needed now.

“Every pound raised means more lives saved. Families have lost everything. Please give whatever you can today”
