Cambridge is heading into the summer of community events, cultural festivals, and family-friendly activities spread across parks, recreation grounds, and public spaces across the city. Free concerts and major festivals, football-led community celebrations offer affordable days out and weekend entertainment for residents, while the Cambridge City Council prepares to promote a growing programme of arts, music, food, and community events.

Music in the Parks returns for Sunday Afternoons

Music in the Parks — one of the city’s longest-running community traditions — returns for another season of outdoor concerts. The series opens with Waterbeach Brass performing on 21 June at uk/local/romsey/">Romsey Recreation Ground, followed by Cambridge Wind Band at Cherry Hinton Hall. Organised through Cambridge City Council’s summer events programme and delivered by Cambridge City Events, the concerts are free to attend and designed to bring live music directly into neighbourhood parks, reflecting the focus on green spaces rather than the city centre.

CITYFEST adds football and community spirit

Another major addition to the city’s summer calendar is CITYFEST, organised by Cambridge City FC.

Running from 17 to 21 June at the club’s Sawston stadium, the five-day event combines football, entertainment, and community activities. Organisers say the festival is intended to build on the success of its inaugural edition by bringing together supporters, local businesses, families, and residents.

The programme includes quiz nights, bingo, and entertainment events & activities designed to attract visitors beyond the club’s traditional fan base.

Community Spirit at the Heart of Summer

Cambridge City Council works alongside local organisations, cultural groups, and community partners by providing funding support through community grants to deliver these summer programmes that are accessible and inclusive.

While concerts, family activities, football festivals, and folk performances engage the outdoors, events and workshops across Cambridge are also shaped by creativity, community involvement, and celebration. Everything from art & exhibitions to theatre & comedy is available to experience in Cambridge. Here is a list of a few key events & festivals happening this summer:
