Cambridge City Council has confirmed plans for Cambridge Pride 2026, stating that the Progress Pride flag will be flown at the Guildhall throughout June as part of the Pride Month commemorations. Cambridge Pride will return to Jesus Green in less than two weeks on Saturday, 13 June 2026, continuing its role as the city’s central Pride celebration.

Organised by The Pink Festival Group, Cambridge held its first official Pride event in June 2019 and has now grown significantly, with Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) remaining the official headline sponsor and a key community partner.

Council funding supports Community and Inclusion work

In support of the volunteer-led festival, Council has awarded £5,000 to The Pink Festival Group to support the Community Hive at Cambridge Pride. The community Hive is a space for LGBTQ+ community groups and allies, offering a space where visitors can access support services, connect with inclusive community initiatives, and discover local organisations.

This includes continued support for The Kite Trust, which works with young LGBTQ+ people and has helped coordinate LGBTQ+ History Month activities in the city.

The council is also a signatory and co-founder of the Cambridgeshire Equality Pledge, which encourages organisations to actively challenge discrimination and promote equal opportunity.

In addition, Cambridge City Council has reaffirmed its commitment to its “Trans rights are human rights” motion, which outlines measures to address hate crime and discrimination affecting LGBTQ+ communities.

The council also continues its flag-raising programme throughout the year, including the Progress Pride flag during LGBTQ+ History Month (February), Pride Month (June), and many more.

University of Cambridge celebrating Pride Month

Alongside city-wide celebrations, the University of Cambridge has confirmed a series of LGBTQ+ events and discussions, focused on research, lived experience, and workplace inclusion, taking place throughout June as part of its internal inclusion and equality programming.

Scheduled events include Unwilling To Know: Male Homosexuality at the Crossroads of Europe, 1870–1965 by Dr Wannes Dupont, including Building Inclusive Workplaces: The Role of LGBTQ+ Allies – Straight and Queer, and many more. Full details and registration information are available via the university’s events page.

Looking ahead to Pride Month in Cambridge

Cambridge Pride 2026 forms part of a wider programme of civic, academic and community-led events across the city during Pride Month, reflecting both celebration and ongoing advocacy for equality. Further information on Cambridge Pride 2026 is available at https://cambridgepride.co.uk/.
